Heart of Providence

MISSION

Our Lady of Providence Inspires Faith, empowers Hope, strengthens Love, through exemplary Catholic education.

CATHOLIC IDENTITY
The American Bishops Pastoral, “To Teach as Jesus Did”, expanded the dimensions of Catholic schools when they stated that: “The educational mission of the Church is an integrating ministry embracing three interlocking dimensions:  the message revealed by God which the Church proclaims; Fellowship in the life of the Holy Spirit; Service to the Christian community and the entire human community.”

In keeping with this mission, Our Lady of Providence Jr-Sr High School strives to give students the tools to live a life of faith, service and love.

We do so through the implementation of our a) school mission and philosophy, b) four-year Theology program, c) Campus Ministry program, d) Service Learning programs, e) four-year programs of retreats and reflections, and f) penance services, school liturgies, assemblies, daily prayer and daily mass.  Students also have the opportunity to be ministers of the Eucharist, reading, music, and hospitality.

OPPORTUNITIES

As a Nationally Recognized School of Excellence, Our Lady of Providence strives to prepare students for personal and professional life based on Christian values.  Providence’s curriculum includes a rigorous academic challenge as well as a very competitive sports program.  Numerous classes and co-curricular activities are available.  Religious studies combine with 100 hours of community service as a requirement for graduation

NON-DISCRIMINATORY POLICY
Our Lady of Providence Junior-Senior High School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally available to all students.  Providence does not discriminate on basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, scholarship, or financial aid programs or athletic and other school administered programs.

PHILOSOPHY
Our Lady of Providence is an expression of our shared faith-belief in the uniqueness and the dignity of every person as a child of God.  As a center of Christian education, Providence places great importance upon the unique spirit that is alive in each person which needs to be expressed, to be shared, to be incarnated in our world.  In accordance with this philosophy, the community of Providence continually strives to develop the talents of students through quality in experience, learning, discipline and relationships.

STATEMENT OF DIVERSITY
As an educational and Christian institution, we honor and revere the sacredness of every person and value compassion and respect for all people.

  • We are committed, as followers of Jesus Christ, to justice and fairness in all dealings with human beings.
  • We strive to provide opportunities to develop self-awareness and learn the patterns of our own and each individual's prejudice.
  • We strive to provide learning opportunities about cultural history and characteristics of many different groups and lifestyles.

The title "Board of Trustees" was adopted in July 2006.  The Board consists of 20 voting members, representative of both the Catholic and greater community.
