BLUE ANGEL TUITION GRANT PROGRAM
While charging tuition for a students’ education is a necessity, it must not be a burden to a family that values Catholic education. The Blue Angel Tuition Grant Program ensures a place for students whose families are facing financial challenges.
The Blue Angel program allows donors to sponsor and, if desired, mentor a student. Rather than have donors sponsor an individual student, The Blue Angel program also accepts donations, which are tax-deductible. Those donations provide tuition assistance to students based on need and other criteria set forth by the donor. In contrast, an individual who paid a student’s tuition would not be eligible for the tax benefit.
Those who donate 50 percent or more of the cost of tuition are eligible to mentor a student. However, mentoring is not a requirement of the program. Those who wish to mentor a Blue Angel sponsored student can become involved in the student’s education as they like.
For example, one Blue Angel donor and mentor who is an alumnus bought a computer for the sponsored student to help with homework. Typically, donor and students in the Blue Angel program wish to remain anonymous.
