The 2018 Pioneer Football returned 15 seniors from the 2017 team that went 7-6 and won the school’s sixth sectional championship. Those 15 seniors formed the core nucleus of a team that finished the season with a 9-3 record, the first nine-game win streak since 1983. The offense, led by seniors Kaden Williams, Kevin Smith, Joe Denis, Bryce Drury, and others, averaged an impressive 29.7 points a game. The defense led by seniors Smith, James Hoke, Kaleb McCubbins, Nolan McCain, and others, allowed only 15.0 points per game. Although their goal to repeat as sectional champions was thwarted, the team has much to be proud of.
With 15 seniors graduating, a core of talented underclassman starters are ready to step up next season, including juniors Colin Flake, Alec Fougerousse, Jonah Scott, Bishop Edwards, Peyton Delucio, Brayton Gettelfinger and Chase Aldridge. Returning sophomore starters include Ryley Gunther and Jeremy Gettelfinger.
