The 2017 team proved it was ready for the challenge of competing for the first time in the 4A postseason bracket following its unprecedented fifth straight trip to the state finals and earning its second state runner-up title in 2016. The 2017 team dropped just one regular season game and set a school record for most consecutive wins and most wins in a season. In the postseason, the Lady Pioneers became the first team in the state to win 2A, 3A and 4A sectional and then regional titles. The team was ranked No. 1 in 4A but lost a hard-fought match at semi-state. The team graduates one senior, Marissa Hornung, who was named an Under Armour First-Team All-American and a Gatorade Player of the Year candidate.
