Admissions Process
Selecting the right high school can be a challenging task, and we will ensure that you receive the necessary information, attention, and time you need to make the best decision. Every year, we offer several ways for students and parents to personally experience Providence. Each one is an important step in the enrollment process.
Annual Open House
Typically held in early November, our Open House is an opportunity for prospective students and parents to take a guided tour of Providence and meet faculty, staff and students. You’ll see our outstanding facilities, hear about athletic programs and extracurricular activities, and learn what it means to be a Pioneer. It’s the most comprehensive and information-packed way for both students and parents to experience our school. The event is open to students and families from all grade levels who would like more information on Providence.
The Open House is typically the first Sunday in November.
Shadow Days/Campus Visit
Students attending New Albany Deanery elementary schools participate in an annual group shadow day during the spring of their 7th-grade year. Students from other schools are encouraged to schedule a building tour. To arrange a tour, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Placement Test
Students interested in attending Providence must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT), which is a very important step in the process of placing students in the appropriate courses for success at the high school level. The test is usually offered in early December. Students should arrive by 8:45 a.m. on the day of the test and bring two #2 pencils and a $15 check made out to Providence.
A make-up test date is held in early January for students with scheduling conflicts.
Registration Information
After completing the Placement Exam, students must register for the upcoming school year. Registration for incoming freshmen is typically in the first week of February. Parents of students who have taken their exams will be notified via email with information on how to complete the process. In-person registration is recommended to ensure the student selects the best path for the student's future at Providence.
Admission is offered to New Albany Deanery school students once the placement test score is reviewed and the school principal has confirmed the academic standing and appropriate placement for the student. Successful completion of eighth grade is required.
For transfer students, an official school visit by the student and a parent is the first step in applying for admission. If admission is desired, an application is submitted along with academic records and credentials from the current school. An interview with the Providence Guidance Office completes the process and a final determination is made. To schedule a campus visit, email This email address is being protected from spambots.
