Shirley A. Schafer was the mother of PHS graduates Donna (Schafer) Howard '78 David Schafer '79 and Andrea Schafer '82.  She was also the grandmother of Lucy E. Howard '00. Shirley came to work in the Providence cafeteria in 1978 and remained for 12 years retiring in 1990.​
